GO KYPSKI!

October 1, 2008

NIKE

That’s the detail of the tongue label on C-Mon & Kypski’s limited edition SB Dunks…Here’s the details on Kypski’s new mix.

Our Dutch turntablist friend Kypski is the man, and he’s got this new mix that’s full of the joints we play in the office from MGMT, Digitalism, Boreta, Booka Shade & more. The cuts are crazy and remind us of when hip hop mixtapes had real DJ’s who could scratch. For good measure, we’ve added this youtube clip so you can see this guy in action. I don’t think he made this mix sitting at the drumset but who knows.

Can’t wait to have these guys back in the city and if you don’t know about their band, look them up under BAND WATCH and you’ll find out we’ve been friends with them for a bit.

This DOWNLOAD LINK is going to expire so hurry up and get the mix!

MORSE CODE’S JAZZ LOBBY PLAYLIST

September 17, 2008

Nat “DJ Morse Code” Morse, straight out of Los Angeles, is always a guest of the house, a DJ for the DJs and an all around swell kinda guy. As part of DJ AM’s artist group Deckstar, which houses such international DJ’s as Jazzy Jeff, Steve Aoki, Stretch Armstrong & The Alchemist, Morse Code has been rocking some major nights around the country.

Beyond the club nights, Nat has been a record collector and producer, who’s garnered some attention for his Fusion Batches series, a mix of rare funk and jazz records. The first one was “one of the best mixes I’ve heard, ever” according to Jazzy Jeff. The second Fusion Batches should be available early October, but we’ll tide you over with a few rare choice cuts of the month. And if you’re asking why it’s only 5 joints, well, these records are expensive and he spent time finding them. Cool? Cool.

JUSTICE X DIOR HOMME

July 28, 2008

JUSTICE

When Justice drops some new music the blog world goes in to a frenzy. On the Google Blog search all we found today was a bunch of foreign blogger press which means, ta-daa!

ON first listen, sounds like we have some new material from the famous French dark dance producer duo. Dior takes home the ribbon this year of summer promo mixes (remember last year’s Daft Punk X Louis Vuitton mix), with some of the best work we’ve heard from Justice since they became the size of Wal-Mart.

Check it for yourself, see if you likes. We can imagine that this has / had the sexiest release party, ever.

4HERO’S DEGO DJ MIX

June 12, 2008

Marc Mac & Dego are 4Hero, who make music with collaborators from Ursula Rucker to Little Brother on their latest release Play With The Changes. 4Hero is like vintage-future funk & soul during a packed 80 degree sundown at the final summer night of PS-1.

The mix starts off with a track that we haven’t heard anyone else play but DJ Equal. The Jamie Lidell ‘Little bit more’ Luke Vibert mix, then goes right in to Flying Lotus, and that’s all we needed to get this out there.

We also love the four ‘Look Inside’ remixes they have up on their Myspace page especially Daz-I-Kue’s broken-Brazilian trancy vibe and Nu-Tone’s Bukem-esque jungle attack.

ROCK M’STEADY

June 9, 2008

Our friend Mikey is a true taste maker, in many ways.

1. Mr. Steady is first and foremost a food junkie & chef. Last year Mike went to Italy for an extended study on culinary arts.

2. Mr. Steady has an impeccable sense of hot, soulful urban music. He oversaw the production of Suite 903, Cornerstone’s future sounding R&B series and has a mix which proves so below.

3. Mr. Steady rocksteady. Mikey sets off the dance floor, everytime. He could put an ad on Craigslist as party starter and we would not be surprised.

So, in good taste, we introduce you to Mike Steady with his delicious mix, blog and party coming up with Daz-I-Kue.
