Our hearts sank as the texts started pouring in at 10pm Friday night. Apparently Black Thought had just announced the afterparty was at Sutra on stage at Radio City Music Hall. We were already stressing capacity, this was potential disaster.

Friday May 9th, we set off the ONE NIGHT ONLY series with our first lineup of DJ Spinna, ?uestlove and DJ Center. It was amazing. Over 1000 RSVPs and nearly 700 people attended the kickoff hosted by URB Magazine. There were some very special guests in the house including Mos Def, Black Thought, Chris Dave, Les Nubians, Jeff Staple, and a mob of eager Spinna and ?uestlove fans waiting to get in.

Stay tuned for the next ONE NIGHT ONLY at the Sutra Lounge

THE ROOTS – RISING DOWN – RELEASE PARTY

April 29th, 2008 by TEXAS

“Words can not express. I felt really blessed last night to be around one of my favorite Hip Hop groups. The Roots are a very significant voice in my generation, and they will always be appreciated in my eyes. Thank you for the inspiration. Black Thought, thanks for telling me to keep hustlin’ – That I will do. If you weren’t there, you missed a very important moment. It was intimate. It was warm. There were no barriers separating us. There was no beef. We were one. Vibing to the same music. Vibing to the same rhythm. Keep music alive. Keep art alive. ONE LOVE! THANKS TO TASTE NYC AND LAUREN!” – THATKIDTEXAS
